Elk River Backpacking Trip

Join us for a fall backpacking adventure on the Elk River Trail. This is a National Recreation Trail, noted in Backpacker Magazine as the best backpacking trail in Kansas. It is a scenic 15 mile trail that was a finalist for the 8 Wonders of Kansas. The trail is on the edge of the Chautauqua Hills region, threads through boulders and up rocky bluffs and sometimes features small waterfalls as well as multiple water crossings – we’re hoping there is water!
We will camp Friday night then start hiking Saturday morning around 10am. We will spend Saturday night on the trail and complete the hike Sunday. If you don’t want to camp Friday night, you are welcome to join us Saturday morning.
Elk River Trail – located near Elk City and Independence Kansas – we will have to make a car shuttle plan as it is a 15 mile one way hike.
