Backpacking in the Hercules – Glades Wilderness
| Join us for a night (5 pm) and 2 days on trail in the Hercules- Glades Wilderness located inside the Mark Twain National Forest. “Hercules Glades Wilderness Area is 12,413 acres of the most scenic and unique country in the Midwest. It’s combination of open grassland, forested knobs, steep rocky hillsides, and narrow drainages offers unusual beauty and a measure of solitude within easy reach of wilderness lovers.” We will be backpacking a 10 mile loop trail which is rated as moderately challenging with uneven, rocky trail surfaces and steep incline/decline as well as some water crossings. Elevation gain can range from 600 to 1200 feet depending on our route.
